Ok So I bought a car 4 days ago for $15,000. Today I got a call from the secretary at the dealership saying they needed a pay stub from the last 30 days. I already gave them our tax papers and got approved for the loan and signed all the papers and proved place of residency. But we have been on vacation for 36 days and will be for 6 more days. My husband and I had our tax return put on H&R Blocks emerald card last year. We were unaware that the IRS was going to seize them due to my student loans. I now owe that company $3000.00. I have called and tried to make arrangements with them, but they want a ridiculous amount up front and want the debt payed off in six months. We live paycheck to paycheck and just don’t have that kind of money sitting around. I am going to pay them, but I need my taxes to come up with the initial payment. I believe the company holding the claim is HSBC. If I were to file my income taxes directly with the IRS and have them mail me a check, can they seize them before I get them? I’m going to pay this debt, I just don’t have as much as they are asking for at this time. Is it legal for them to ask for such a large amount and not be willing to take what I can give them. I told them I could afford to $50 – $75 a month. They were unwilling to agree to those terms. I thought if you were making an effort, they had to accept it. My concern would be that you put information on the credit application, regardless of it being incomplete. If you signed and dated it that was you agreeing to the credit check.
